June 6   Clean Air Day
As part of the fleet of fuel-efficient, environmentally-friendly vehicles operating in the Parliamentary Precinct, Hydrogen on the Hill displayed one of its hydrogen buses during Clean Air Day on the Hill, which took place on Wednesday, June 6th. Project representatives were also on hand to distribute pamphlets containing project information and answer any questions. The other two hydrogen buses were used to transport visitors to NRCan’s refueling station on Booth Street, where they were given a brief presentation on the hydrogen refueling station before returning to the Hill.
Clean Air Day on the Hill is an annual event which aims to encourage the occupants of the Parliamentary Precinct to become more involved in efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Through the combined efforts of parliamentary occupants and the Partners for a Green Hill, the Parliamentary Precinct has reduced waste and improved the environment through the successful implementation of projects such as sustainable transportation initiatives, increased recycling efforts, a paper save program and several other activities.
