Hydrogen on the Hill
Hydrogen on the Hill aims to support the development and evaluation of clean, hydrogen-based transportation technologies, and has three specific objectives: • To obtain comprehensive, real-world experience and data regarding the performance, reliability, user acceptance and environmental benefits of hydrogen vehicles • To raise public awareness of the safety, benefits and real-world applicability of hydrogen vehicle technologies among government officials and the general public • To develop and support Canadian suppliers to the hydrogen economy. The three hydrogen buses produce near zero emissions of regulated pollutants and greenhouse gases. They feature 60% Canadian content, with engines manufactured at Ford’s Windsor, Ontario plant. The bus chassis are produced by Les Entreprises Corbeil of St-Lin Laurentides, Quebec, and the hydrogen fuel storage systems are supplied by Dynetek Industries Ltd of Calgary, Alberta. Hydrogen on the Hill will feature several outreach activities showcasing the buses. As the project’s communications coordinator, ATFCAN will define and supervise the communications and outreach programs, along with Hydrogen on the Hill’s other partners. The project also includes a hydrogen fueling station, supplied by Air Liquide of Canada with support from Natural Resources Canada.
