ATFCAN Partners with the Government of Canada and Ford of Canada to Launch Hydrogen on the Hill Release Date - December 7, 2006

Ottawa, ON – ATFCAN has partnered with the Government of Canada, Ford of Canada and other industry partners to launch a leading environmental demonstration project at the Senate of Canada featuring buses equipped with hydrogen internal combustion engines (H2ICE). For the first time in Canada, three of Ford’s hydrogen buses will operate on Parliament Hill as part of the Senate’s shuttle fleet. Industry Canada has invested $4.2M in the Hydrogen on the Hill project, valued at $8.5M, through the Hydrogen Early Adopters (h2EA) program. The remaining project contributions are being made by Ford and ATFCAN.

Hydrogen on the Hill aims to validate the performance and benefits of hydrogen buses under real-world driving conditions. The project will raise public awareness regarding the feasibility of utilizing hydrogen technologies and will also further the capabilities of Canadian companies developing new products for the hydrogen economy.
