ATFCAN and Maruti of India to Collaborate on an Evaluation of Canadian CNG Conversion Technology Release Date - March 9, 2006
New Delhi, India – The President and Chief Executive Officer of ATF Advanced Technologies & Fuels Canada Inc. (ATFCAN), Rodney Semotiuk, officially announced today that ATFCAN has agreed to collaborate with Maruti Udyog Limited (Maruti) of India to evaluate advanced compressed natural gas (CNG) conversion technology for use in India. ECO Fuel Systems Inc. (ECO) of Canada will provide the conversion technology.
Maruti will undertake an evaluation of ECO’s fuel injected CNG equipment featuring the edi (ECO Digital Injection) control module. This processor based system utilizes state-of-the-art automotive electronics to optimize the original petrol engine control technology provided by Maruti for use with CNG.
The evaluation exercise will have Maruti working with ECO to verify the compatibility of ECO’s technology with Maruti’s petrol engines and providing technical assistance in the optimization of the edi for use in the Maruti Esteem vehicle. Subsequently, Maruti and ECO will work together with ACE Gas Conversions Pvt. Ltd. (ACE) of India to obtain approval from the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) for conversion of the Bharat Stage III compliant Maruti Esteem to CNG operation. ...more
