ATFCAN Enters in a Partnership with Tata Motors of India  Page 2

The replacement of current CNG and diesel engines with new lean-burn CNG engines will translate into substantially lower emissions, higher fuel efficiency and reliable performance. The new roof-mounted cylinders are more than 60% lighter than those currently in use and will provide bus operators with extended driving range, as well as improved vehicle fuel economy.

“This new partnership with Tata Motors is an important step for ATFCAN as well as for Cummins Westport and Dynetek” Mr. Semotiuk said at the signing ceremony.  “Tata Motors is one of the principal economic partners in India and ATFCAN is proud to join with Tata in raising the bar and introducing significant new technology to India.”

Mr. Semotiuk added “it is also a great opportunity for Cummins Westport and Dynetek to demonstrate their know-how and showcase leading Canadian technological innovations in India.  This augurs well for the future.”

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. A.P. Arya, President (Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles), Tata Motors, said, "Tata Motors’ goal is to develop and facilitate technology solutions for sustainable development, protecting the environment and continually improving operating economy. We have on our own have been taking such initiatives. The partnership with ATFCAN is one more step in realising our goal."

The significance of this new partnership was also underlined by the principals of CWI and Dynetek.

Speaking on behalf of Cummins Westport Inc. President Guan Saw stated:

“CWI greatly appreciates the opportunity to work with our Canadian partners to bring CWI advanced CNG engine technology to this bus demonstration project in New Delhi. We are also thrilled to work with Tata Motors in this project as Tata Motors will be installing our CWI natural gas engines in their buses. The demonstration project in New Delhi will provide impetus to reduce air pollution in the city as New Delhi will be hosting the Commonwealth Games in 2010." ...more
